Craniosacral Therapy and Mobilisation
Craniosacral therapy uses gentle and precise hands-on techniques applied to the bones of the skull and spine with the intention is release tension deep within the body and to support the natural mobility of these structures. The treatment encourages balanced circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
The craniosacral system includes 3 layers of meningeal membranes and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). CSF surrounds your brain and spinal cord. It acts like a cushion and, because it is a fluid, helps reduce the effective weight and pressure of the skull — similar to the way water creates buoyancy and makes your body feel lighter when you are in a pool.
CSF further transports minerals, nutrients and hormones to surrounding tissues in exchange of metabolic waste products. It plays a significant role in detoxification.
By using soft traction and gentle pressure techniques in harmony with the body’s natural rhythms, craniosacral therapy aims to release structural and emotional tension patterns, support the healthy flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and encourage the body to relax and self-regulate. This will reduce, even eliminate pressure passed on to the central nervous system (spinal cord) and naturally reduce pain and stress, strengthen your resistance to disease and enhance your health and well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy can assist with:
- Headaches, Migraines
- TMJ disorder = temporomandibular joint disorder
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries
- Nerve-related symptoms such as sciatica or carpal tunnel syndrome
- Scoliosis, postural dysfunction
- Chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia and other connective tissue disorders
- Postsurgical Dysfunction
- Stress, anxiety, restlessness
